WAKO will participate in three disciplines and with following weight categories in the MA & CS Games:
Semicontact: 63, 69, 74, 79, 84 (Men) and 55, 60 (Women).
Fullcontact: 63, 67, 71, 75, 81 (Men) and 56, 60 (Women).
Low-Kick: 63, 67, 71, 75, 81 (Men) and 56, 60 (Women).
WAKO started its activity in Europe in 1976 by its founder, Mr. Georg Bruckner from Berlin. Since then Kickboxing as a sport have developed rapidly andnowadays is a real universal sport. We have easy rules to understand both for athletes and the general public. Today Kickboxing, as an umbrella name,offers the following sport styles:
Full-Contact, Light-Contact, Semi-Contact, Low-Kick, Kick-Light, K1-Rules, Musical Forms
In addition we have Aero-Kick as training and exercise discipline in the gyms.
Today WAKO counts on a market of kickboxers estimated to be around 3,000,000 participants and no less than 10,000 clubs around the globe. WAKO has 112 affiliated nations and 75 of those are officially recognized by their NOCs orGovernmentSports Authorities. We promote, nationally and internationally, more than 1,000 amateur and professional events a year. These figures speak for themselves.
WAKO are a member of General Association of International Sport Federations, (GAISF or Sportaccord) and Olympic Council of Asia, OCA. We are amember of WADA and apply the Anti-Doping Code. We take regularlypartin Asian Indoor Games and Asian Martial Arts Games promoted by OCA. We take part also in African Games and now we are a proud partner in the Sportaccord Martial Arts & Combat Sports Games.
